Etymology: If the word is Illyrian, one could connect Latv. dubra `pit, marshy place', OCS dъbrь `abyss', also to MIr. dobur `water', and further words for `deep', Lith. dubùs, Goth. diups etc. See Krahe Die Sprache d. Illyrier 1, 47. - Acc. to Szemerényi Archiv. Linguist. 5, 77 here also Lat. Tiberis (as Illyriam). Cf. δύπτω.
